The teaching projects for food education are the results of commitment by the Istituto Nutrizionale Carapelli to scientific research and diffusion of the nutrition importance of olive oil and, more in general, of a correct diet.Since 2007, the Istituto Nutrizionale Carapelli has systematically and continually promoted various educational projects in schools, aiming to spread the principles of a healthy, correct diet and in-depth knowledge of the world of oil, in particular of extra virgin olive oil.

SPREADING LIKE AN OIL STAIN

Macchie d'olio

A path of reflection dedicated to the principles of a healthy diet, oil in particular, and specifically extra virgin olive oil, inspired by the concepts of wellbeing, respect and safeguarding of the environment.An appealing, user-friendly initiative held in middle schools in Siena and Florence during the 2006-2007 academic year.The project involved students, teachers and families in a real non-competitive contest aiming to stimulate the production of stories featuring the territory, its produce and oil.By the end of the course, the organisational office had received a total of 1000 entries:560 drawings, 140 poems and 300 stories.A selection of these were then published in a very interesting booklet.

 


THE TASTE OF HEALTH

Il Gusto della Salute

This teaching project for primary schools was first experimented in 2007 in two schools, one in Milan and the other in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the province of Florence.  For its final validation, in 2008, it was used in five schools in Milan, Rome, Naples, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in the province of Florence and Voghera in the province of Pavia.Experimentation and validation covered a small significant sample in Italy, totalling 550 students and 22 classes.The teaching materials and methods presented in the schools were finally approved at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year, thanks to support from the Ministry of Education, University and Research, which corroborated its teaching-educational importance.

IL FRANTOIO DELLE STORIE

Since the 2009-2010 academic year and with support from Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry of Health, the “Guadagnare Salute”, this teaching programme has raised the awareness of children in Italian primary schools and their families, about food education and correct lifestyles.The five editions of the project have seen distribution of around 6,000 teaching kits, directly involving 1,300 schools, 5,700 classes and more than 116,000 students.

Generazione Chef

After 5 years, the Istituto Nutrizionale Carapelli is getting ready to continue its mission through creation of a new educational project with a new target and new content.This has led to “Generazione Chef.L’olio nella cucina di domani”, a teaching project for food education devised for third, fourth and fifth years at Italian hotel and catering schools.
